    IPiM Recruiting Campaign?

Post by sunspot on Thu Mar 24, 2011 1:11 am

I was drinkin' my coffee, sittin' around, beautiful morning light, sunny rays pouring down from the sky, cigarette smoke softly, gently rising to the heavens... AND SUDDENLY I thought: We need moar trolling!

    Right, well. Getting serious.

    Here's an idea! A lil' Weekend-of-IPiM-Recruiting-Campaign!
    The basics:

Sir Ryan del Guild'master may create a new rank, such as the current "trial member", but maybe with a different touch, like "pending" or whatever, to differentiate the two.
    Why a new rank?
    Simple, silly!

During this campaign some designated people (well, basically officers who can invite people to the guild, trusted people, or I dunno, anyone else worthy of such task) will take a few minutes in this weekend to go around our beautiful horde major cities (and not only, I hear there's loads of players chillin' at ICC) and spam around a certain text to inform people that IPiM is opening it's gates to new members.

The catch? We will not ask for any applications to be posted, but instead, we will invite random who would wish to join us.
"But sun, how will we know if they are pr0 or nab?!"
Complicated task at hand, yes, but if a player may wish to join us, we will simply have a little chat with him (what's your name, what's your age, is your mom a milf, do you like ponies, stuff like this) and if that players answers seem acceptable, he will get an invite.

Those newly accepted will ofcourse have the rank of "pending" (or whatever.) so that we know who is who and what is what in the guild, and if after a certain time these people will be to our likes, they shall be promoted equally as others.

    WALL OF TEXT OKAY GTFO!

The reason I think this is necessary is because time and again many of our current members keep *sigh*'ing when it's the middle of the day and there's 5 people online, or on the contrary, there's 20 people online but only 5 wanna do something.

SO, I hope this gets taken into consideration a bit from teh higher minds of our beloved gathering!

TROLLS ALLOWED, ya ya go ahead.

Well sunny, I think, the main reason of applications is that we wanna get to know if the certain person:
-really wants to get in the guild
-or just see, how things turn out,
    -or rob guild bank
-or to make us Plvl them / their alts.
so generally to abuse the guild without anything in turn.

That would require some serious work from any reliable member, and we'd have to spy on the newcomers which is not a nice thing + would take one's playtime away.

Personally i'd chose the slow process of getting more and more people, by making them apply in a topics, so that we can decide pretty much what he/she is like.

plus, guild is growing, and growing, the problems could be with timezones or maybe simply, that we can't always want to raid / go do some event and stuff. and out of maybe the 20-30 members that are online daily, at least 10 prefers pvp over pve, and 10 other thinks PvE is more entertaining then PvP.

Though, if this idea is accepted, i'll help with all I can^^
i'M not saying this is a bad idea, but maybe needs to go into more details, and we would need to make preparations for that.

    noone else with opinions? Sad

Yeah loga, all kinds of problems may appear, I agree.
That's why I proposed a different rank & a probing period for those invited.
And, I do have to point out that even now we have a few members who aren't as active / friendly / sociable / etc as they supposed to be.
I won't give names either, but as far as friendliness goes, we have some people who aren't like that even now, and classified as Members in the guild.

You never know what apples you're gonna get. Even if them apples look shiny and tasty on the fruit-stand (applications), they might not be as they seem when you taste'em (when they're getting into the guild).
    Just a small analogy Smile

I already suggested something of the sort awhile back, I did invite some good people while we were allowed to invite as officers without app. (after your sure, that person is alright ofc.)

But we also got some bad people in I heard, I would be up for it I guess if I were a officer, but i'd distrust other officers choices then, I have to be sure myself. I don't want another sub or some whiny kid. Also I can be picky with ones communication abbility, there were people invited that actually *didnt* speak english at all. Which is obviously a bad thing, broken english i can live with, but come on. :/

    No here.

pfeh, nothing wrong with openly saying recruiting is going on for IPiM in orgrimmar. Just not straight invites, just say applications are wanted at this spot if they think this guild is for them and want to get in.

Hmm, you don't have to throw free invites. I think you just need to promote the guild. Organise pug raids, pug premades, public events etc. Think about marketing strategies :p you need to "sell" the guild.

    ^ this

Sorry sunny, i have a very short and narrow opinion of this, yes,in the last recruiting binge we had we got some good players, but also some bad ones, which were a shit fight to /banhammer/GTFO. I like the current recruiting format, it works well and is easier to mantain, and Ryan said it in another post, at least if joe lunchbox comes to the forum, fills out an app it (kinda) proves he is actually interested in joining, rather than answering some random spamming in ORG.

    My 2 cents...its a no from me
