    Rogue PvP advice

Post by madkiwi on Wed Mar 23, 2011 4:57 pm

    Sup guys,

i have become an addict. I heart<3 pvp as a rogue and cant get enough of it. I have had some advice from some pr0 dudes in guild (ty Xyonn and cerma xD), but am still looking for more.

Here is the shiz, in any form of pvp ima get owned by frosty mage mofo's, are these the rogue nemesis? Does anyone have good tactics vs these guys, me have tried opening with gorrte, them mutilate, kidney shot blah blah, unfortunatley by the time i kidney they have stuck me with that stupid aoe spell(which seems castable even after garrote) then blink then frostbolt x10 and BAMM!! dead rogue.

Then there are the warriorzzzz, i know nothing of the nasty warrior, i am stealthed, they do some hurrrhhhh thing from like 50 yards away and BAMM!!, stealth broken, charge from the otherside of the map, bleed me so i canny vanish the dead rogue again zzzz.

Are these just people i should avoid or can the rogue rogues please pass on some of their uber knowledge.

    Any advice greatly welcomed

P.S. This is not a topic about dumb bears k, please go troll Log's thread Razz

Well I havent dug my rogue out in a while, so i guess some others would be best to give advice, however heres some specific pointers:

Warriors: Try and get every DoT you possibly can on them. Once you've done that, stay the fuck away and try to avoid them the best you can. Getting close to warriors for too long will just end with you dead, you have to play it smart.

Oh, and don't forget about dismantle. Use it right when your about to unleash a finisher, it works best when you're ready to unleash some burst.

Mage: Basically it is absolutely essential when fighting frost mages that you keep them slowed, and yourself free. You really shoudl have crippling poison on your OH, so shiv this onto them ASAP to slow them down.

So as an opener -> Garrotte -> Shiv

He will probably nova you at this point and blink away, or use some sort of escape method. Vanish out of this one, and reopen. Use CoS and Blind to close distance (Not at the same time).

If you wanna read some more check out: http://www.wowwiki.com/Rogue_PvP_guide

From a quick skim over it seems to say similar things as I just said, just with more explanation.

I don't know much about rogues either, haven't even played one at end-game content yet, but I've seen what other rogues have done to my arena mates, I think I learned a few things like this...

When I had dk+warrior as partners, it seems that rogues will usually slow&dot the sh*t out of warriors first, then move away and preferably jump me with the same tactic, but with extra dps.
So basically, dot&slow (dunno the names of..what's going on) warrs, then stealth and re-target, usually the healer.

As for mages, I haven't seen them as a priority for rogues (prolly cause of the many escape possibilities available for a mage, dunno)

Anyway, in general, I've seen rogues swap targets alot, just cripple&slow&dot, and *woosh* stealthed, just to pop behind another one to give him the same treatment... very very annoying, specially for a healer, specially for people who can't cleanse all the debufs (having 2 partners slowed, and me sitting around while they get eaten from rdps, nooot funny at all when the rogue kept punishing them down to the ground)

Mages sadly counter us hard with a lot of haste/sp
Vs Warriors dont get let down b/c you have a bleed, once a bleed ticks you vanish and open with a cheap shot/garrote
    @Sunspot
if you are playing a druid
There is a cool thing that removes poisons(slows)
But if the rogue is sub then you're fucked, foreverslowed.jpg

poping evasion after you are done with opening stun+bleed vs warrs can help you avoid rend and basically you just need to keep moving behind him so he cant overpower you much and you will prolly avoid all mortal strikes this way, when evasion is down, disarm him, when disarm is over you can go for reopen if you dont have bleed, open with garrote, pop prep, evasion again (even sprint so you can stay behind him easier) and if he's still alive after 2 openers and 2 evasions...cy@ rogue :p

Well, I know how it feels like being pwnd by a frost mage.. There was this scenario, I was in arena with Kaz's lock and we brought this mage down to 7k (The other guy was a hunter and they are liek np for rogues)before kaz died and I was alone with this mage.. I was at full HP (26k) and this mage made me rage sooooo badly that I was about to throw my monitor from the top-most floor .. He pwnd me liek np, everything was on CD and I was like "OMFG, ONLY IF I CAN MEET THIS GUY IN REAL"

Anyways, the best thing to do against a frost mage is keep em CC'ed till their ice barrier comes off. Blind em before anything so they can waste their medallion. Open with Garrote -> Mut -> Rupture -> Vanish -> CS -> Mut -> KS -> and then random shit..

Remember, CoS is the worst nightmare of any spell casting class.. Save it .. Also, only use medallion when deep freezed, don't use it when they cast frost nova ..

Oh and like Ryan said, don't use crippling poison.. Use wounded poison, cause one talent of Assassination ensures a 100% applying rate of crippling poison when wound poison it applied.. Also wound poison deals a good load of damage when applied and it's proc rate is higher than instant poison .. Use faster dagger as OH and apply deadly poison to it .. If both weapons are of same speed, use the one with higher damage in OH
